REGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN OF ANDERSON, GRIMES COUNTY, TEXAS, THURSDAY, JANUARY 12, 2023
THE STATE OF TEXAS – TOWN OF ANDERSON – BE IT REMEMBERED, that on this the 12th day of January 2023, at 7:00 p.m., there was begun and holden a Regular Meeting of the Town of Anderson, Grimes County, Texas.
1. Call to order at 7:00 p.m.
• Roll call – Bessie White, Daryl Alford, Harold Minor, Kason Menges, Marc Benton & Pam Johnson were present. Karen McDuffie was absent. Visitors present were
• Establish quorum
• Invocation – Kason Menges
• Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. Flag
• Pledge of Allegiance to the Texas Flag
2. Public Comments:
John Miller – Requesting that the Town look at opening & maintaining Schroeder St.
3. Consider and take action to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on 12/8/22.
Motion by Kason Menges with correction to #18 to approve minutes, seconded by Daryl Alford, all approved, motion carried.
4. Consider and take action to approve the list of claims and bills.
Motion by Kason Menges to approve bills, seconded by Marc Benton, all approved, motion carried.
5. Consider and take action on request from Judge Joe Fauth to waive or reduce sewer connection fee at the Animal Rescue Center.
Motion by Kason Menges to postpone until Judge Fauth can be included in the discussion, seconded by
Daryl Alford, all approved, motion carried.
6. Consider and take action on update and the following requests submitted to the Town Council by Kason Menges:
Kason Menges recused himself from the council at 7:29 p.m.
a. Request for a public statement from the Town stating that the Menges family in no way illegally took over Town property as stated in a publicly read letter from Robert Seamans in the December meeting. Kason Menges read a letter from his wife in response to the letter read from Robert Seamans. He presented a copy of the survey and is requesting to withdraw his request to purchase a portion of Pecan St.
b. Request that a “No Outlet/Dead End” sign be installed at the intersection of E Buffington and Pecan St – has already been requested through Grimes County Road & Bridge.
c. Request that the Town close and abandon a portion of undeveloped and unused right-of-way consisting of a portion of Pecan Street.
Motion by Marc Benton to postpone 6c until our attorney can be involved in decision, seconded by Daryl Alford, all approved, motion carried.
Kason Menges returned to council table at 8:04 after motion was passed.
7. Consider and take action on disposing of folding chairs and 2-tier chair cart dolly.
Motion by Daryl Alford to postpone pending a meeting with Judge Fauth, seconded by Marc Benton, all approved, motion carried.
Anderson VFD offered to store chairs in their building.
8. Consider and take action to set a date for the next Town of Anderson Clean Up Day.
Motion by Daryl Alford to set date for April 29, 2023, seconded by Kason Menges, all approved, motion carried.
