BOARD OF ALDERMEN

THE TOWN OF ANDERSON, TEXAS

February 9, 2006

The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Anderson met in regular open session in the American Legion Building in Anderson, Texas, at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2006. Mayor Gail Sowell, Alderwoman Erna Freeman, Aldermen Bill Robinett, Tom Johanson, and Attorney Lovett Boggess were present; Alderman Ernest Henderson was absent.

Guests in attendance for the meeting included Cindy Bell, Jamie Shultz, David and Darrell Borski.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

David and Darrell Borski were on hand to discuss plans to build a mini-storage facility at Hill Street and Highway 90. Construction of this facility will cause a large runoff of water across adjacent property unless a culvert can be installed to divert the water. Members of the Council suggested the Mayor meet with engineer Steve Duncan and Robert Lys of Road & Bridge, to discuss the issue.

The Mayor asked that minutes from the regular meeting held on Thurs., January 12, 2006 be considered/approved. Alderwoman Erna Freeman made a motion to approve the minutes as presented; Alderman David Heyman seconded the motion. The motion carried.

A discussion and approval of an ordinance for the town on the nuisance abatement law was tabled until the March meeting.

Members were asked to approve the adoption of an Order of Election for May 13, 2006 for the purpose of electing three 2-year terms for Alderman positions currently held by David Heyman, Bill Robinett and Erna Freeman. Alderman Tom Johanson made a motion to adopt the Order of Election; and Alderman Bill Robinett seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of the motion.

Mayor Sowell informed the council 500 cubic yds. of RAP material was awarded once again to the city from Catherine Hejl, TxDOT Director of Maintenance in Bryan. Mayor Sowell said she would meet with Robert Lys to check all the roads in Anderson to determine which roads would be scheduled for upgrading. He will meet with the council in March to finalize a schedule.

Alderman Bill Robinett moved that all invoices currently due and payable be ordered paid. Alderwoman Erna Freeman seconded the motion. The motion carried.

Mayor Sowell informed the Aldermen of progress on current projects and miscellaneous items of business.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:42 p.m.
