There was a quorum thus a public open meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Mayor Gail Sowell. The Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Allegiance were recited.
Remarks of visitors:
Cindy Bell updated the council on her property/trailer issue. No action by the board is needed. She informed the council of some up coming events in Anderson. No action needed by council.
Minutes of previous meeting held on 1-9-14 were read by each board member present. A motion was made by Erna Freeman to approve the minutes as written. The motion was seconded by Joe Boudreaux. All approved, motion carried.
A motion was made by Joe Boudreaux to adopt Ordinance # 101-14 calling an election to be held in the Town of Anderson on Saturday May 10, 2014 for the election of three 2-year terms for Aldermen positions held by Joe Boudreaux, Erna Freeman, and Karen McDuffie. E. Tom Johanson seconded the motion. All approved, motion carried.
A motion was made by Erna Freeman to approve a Joint Election agreement between Anderson-Shiro CISD and the Town of Anderson to hold an election per state statue. E.Tom Johanson seconded the motion. All approved, motion passed.
Joe Boudreaux made a motion to approve an agreement between the Town of Anderson and the County of Grimes authorizing the Election Administrator Becky Duff to conduct the election on May 10, 2014. Carol DeBose seconded the motion. All approved, motion carried.
Mr. Perry Ealim stated he was new to the community and is familiar with grant writing. He offered his services to help the board identify the needs of the Town and apply for grants such as the Community Development Block Grant.
Joe Boudreaux made a motion to table the discussion on the Texas Transportation Code until next month. Carol DeBose seconded the motion. A short discussion followed. Angela Collier Seager will talk with John Fultz about the Texas Transportation Code and report back to the board. All approved, motion carried.
A motion was made by Joe Boudreaux to pay bills as presented. E. Tom Johanson seconded the motion. All approved, motion carried.
Miscellaneous information were brought up by Erna Freeman, Karen McDuffie, and Mayor Gail Sowell. Erna Freeman stated she received a phone call with someone questioning about the laws in Anderson about door to door solicitation. Karen McDuffie spoke on Anderson’s Clean-up Day being scheduled for April 12, 2014 and she suggested we have it once a year. Mayor Gail Sowell reported on the Master Gardeners project being nearly done and the inmates helped. It was also stated that the Methodist Church is celebrating their 175th Anniversary. They will be celebrating 12:30-3:00 P.M. in Historic Anderson Park on May 4, 2014.

Next regular session town meeting is scheduled for March 13, 2014.
