MINUTES OF MEETING

BOARD OF ALDERMEN

THE TOWN OF ANDERSON, TEXAS

March 8, 2007

The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Anderson met in regular open session in the American Legion Building in Anderson, Texas, at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2007. Mayor Gail Sowell, Attorney Lovett Boggess, Alderwoman Erna Freeman, Aldermen Tom Johanson and Ernest Henderson were present; Aldermen Bill Robinett and David Heyman were absent.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Guests present at the meeting included Mrs. Cindy Bell, Mrs. Maurine Wehmeyer, Tony Pavlock and Chester Finke.

The Mayor asked that the minutes from the regular meeting held on Thursday, February 8, 2007 be considered/approved. Alderman Tom Johanson made a motion to approve the minutes as presented; Alderwoman Erna Freeman seconded the motion. The motion carried.

Grimes Co. Road & Bridge Engineer Robert Lys was unable to attend the meeting but sent a bid of $12,000.00 from Cleveland Asphalt Products on the cost of adding oil to the acquired RAP material from TXDOT. Mayor Sowell mentioned that she and Mr. Lys went around the town to look at what roads would be paved next and discussed a few drainage problems. Alderwoman Erna Freeman made a motion to accept the county’s bid for adding oil to the RAP material; Alderman Ernest Henderson seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of the motion.

Mayor Sowell met with Surveyor Dick Bonds regarding a survey of the town’s roads. He indicated that it would be hard to do not knowing how much time it would take but would come up with some kind of figure. Alderwoman Freeman made a motion that the city request a bid from Dick Bonds Surveying Co. to survey Cedar St. from 1774 to 149; Main Street from 1774 to city limits (going south); Fanthorp St. from Buffington to city limits (going south); and Johnson St. from city limits to county line going east and west. Alderman Ernest Henderson seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of the motion.

Mayor Sowell presented a report from the Anderson Water Co. listing average water consumption during December 2006, January and February 2007 for each business and home in town. Alderwoman Erna Freeman made a motion that the council accept the charges as listed on the report. Alderman Ernest Henderson seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of the motion.

Alderman Tom Johanson moved that all invoices currently due and payable be ordered paid. Alderman Ernest Henderson seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of the motion.

Mayor Sowell updated the board members about on-going projects in and around town. Items discussed included Don Gaylors’ request to hook up to the sewer system and have the charges waived. After discussion of the established rules, it was decided that this could not be done and the Gaylor’s would be responsible for the set fee to hook up to the sewer system.She also indicated that Bill Pendley was ill. He will be rescheduled at a later date.

The meeting was adjourned at 8.02 p.m.
