THE TOWN OF ANDERSON, TEXAS
March 8, 2012
State of Texas
County of Grimes
The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Anderson met in closed session in the American Legion Building in Anderson, Texas, at 7:32 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012. Mayor Gail Sowell, Aldermen Daryl Alford, Joe Boudreaux, Tom Johanson, Alderwomen Carol DeBose, Erna Freeman and City Attorney Angela Collier were present.
The meeting was called to order at 7:32 p.m.
Mayor Sowell acknowledged her thanks to Erna Freeman for her help during the week in researching matters relative to the election to be held in May.
Meeting was called to discuss condemnation projects and a property sale.
Alderwoman Freeman showed a poster prepared by the Sheriff’s Office several years ago. She indicated that the reasons listed on the poster proved to all that the work being done by the City Council was covered by law. All codes listed on poster were state codes. She also indicated that Billy Bean had failed to meet his contract with the city. Members plan to go forward based on his “Breach of Contract”.
Regarding the Property for Sale: Mayor Sowell spoke with representatives of TML regarding the sale of property. She suggested that City Attorney post a public notice to the effect that the city would accept “sealed bids” for this property to be sold. The notice would indicate the date, time and location for bids to be delivered. GCAD shows property to have an estimated value of $1500.00. Alderwoman Freeman researched this issue and presented her notes to City Attorney Angela Collier.
Motion to accept bids will be presented in public meeting.
Closed meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
