The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Anderson met in regular open session in the American Legion Building in Anderson, Texas, at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2007. Present were Mayor Gail Sowell, Mayor Pro-Tem Erna Freeman, Aldermen David Heyman, Tom Johanson, Ernest Henderson and Attorney Lovett Boggess. Absent was Alderman Bill Robinett.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Guests present at the meeting included Cindy Bell, Maurine Wehmeyer and Gail Donahue.
Gail Donahue, representing the Grimes County Health Resource Commission (GCHRC) advised all members present of the outreach plan of this organization. Office is located in the Public Health Building in Navasota. Copies of the plan are available.
Mayor Sowell asked that minutes from the regular meeting held on Thursday, May 17, 2007 be considered/approved. Mayor Pro-Tem Freeman asked that a note be inserted stating that Mayor Sowell’s Oath of Office, administered by Attorney Lovett Boggess, be included in the minutes. The Oath was administered on May 21, 2007. Alderman Ernest Henderson made a motion to approve minutes as presented; Alderman David Heyman seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of the motion.
Bobby Lys, Grimes Co. Road & Bridge Engineer was unable to attend the meeting. He will be re-scheduled at a later date to up-date progress on roadwork and drainage.
City Attorney Lovett Boggess gave a report on community nuisances from an article presented to him by Cindy Bell relating to establishing a commission of at least 5 members, to serve a 2-year term. Attorney Boggess suggested that the city begin with upgrading property owned by the city. He also suggested a review of the deed of property donated to the city by J. Wichman.
Mayor Sowell asked for a motion to approve payment of all invoices and accounts currently due and payable. Alderman Tom Johanson made the motion; Alderman Ernest Henderson seconded it. Approval was unanimous.
Mayor Sowell informed the council on miscellaneous items in progress.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
