THE TOWN OF ANDERSON, TEXAS

June 17, 2004

The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Anderson met in regular open session in the American Legion Building in Anderson, Texas, at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2004, with the following members present: Mayor Gail Sowell, Aldermen David Heyman, Tom Johanson, Bill Robinett and Alderwoman Erna Freeman. Absent was Attorney Lovett Boggess. Alderman F. D. Calhoun arrived at 7:25 p.m.

The meeting was called to order at 7:01 P.M.

Mayor Sowell asked that minutes from the regular meeting held on May 20, 2004 be considered/approved. Alderman Tom Johanson made a motion that the minutes be accepted as presented; Alderman Bill Robinett seconded the approval motion, which was approved by all members present.

Guests were recognized and provided an opportunity to speak about concerns within the town.

Ms. Avery Cunningham, who planned to introduce the 2-1-1 program to the city, was again unable to be present. She will be re-scheduled.

Mayor Sowell asked council members to consider a nomination for a vacancy on the Grimes Co. Appraisal District Board. No action was taken at this meeting.

Ms. Stanley, city secretary, presented a tabulation of all sales and use taxes received during the current year. The breakdown contained a separate accounting of the amount received from the new road tax (that went into effect last October).

Mayor Sowell advised the council members of her recent meeting with Bobby Lys, road and bridge administrator for Grimes Co. He feels that he can provide a temporary solution to the problems beside the Baptist Church by August and will assess the situation on Fanthorp St.

Mayor Sowell apprised the council of several miscellaneous items that she had dealt with during the month of June.

Alderman Bill Robinett made a motion that all invoices and accounts currently due and payable be paid. Alderwoman Erna Freeman seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously.

The meeting was adjourned at 7.28 p.m.
