The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Anderson met in regular open session in the American Legion Building in Anderson, Texas, at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009. Present were Mayor Gail Sowell, Alderwoman Erna Freeman, Aldermen Ernest Henderson, Daryl Alford, Joe Boudreaux, and Attorney John DeMille. Alderman Tom Johanson was absent.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Cindy Bell and Jim Ward were guests at this meeting.
Mayor Sowell introduced Jim Ward, a building official for the town of Navasota. The Mayor asked him to speak with us about ordinances and steps we would be required to take in condemnation procedures. He will provide a copy of Navasota’s ordinances to our attorney for review.
Mayor Sowell asked for approval of the minutes of the regular meeting held on Thursday, June 18, 2009. Motion to accept the minutes as provided was made by Alderwoman Erna Freeman with a second by Alderman Ernest Henderson. All members present voted in favor of the motion.
The discussion regarding final paperwork on the annexation of Fanthorp Inn was tabled until the August meeting. City Attorney DeMille had been in the hospital and had not completed the needed forms.
Mayor Sowell asked members to review and approve a cost estimate on the 2009 street improvements which was provided by Grimes Co. Road and Bridge. After review of the bid totaling $3,030.24, a motion to approve was presented by Alderman Joe Boudreaux and seconded by Alderman Daryl Alford. All members present approved the motion.
Mayor Sowell mentioned that in addition to the regular bills in line for payment there was an interest payment due to USDA on our loan. Motion was made by Alderwoman Erna Freeman to pay all bills; motion was seconded by Alderman Ernest Henderson; all members present approved motion.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m. Motion to adjourn was made by Alderman Alford and seconded by Alderman Boudreaux.
