November 9, 2006

The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Anderson met in regular open session in the American Legion Building in Anderson, Texas, at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2006. Mayor Gail Sowell, Alderman Bill Robinett, Alderwoman Erna Freeman, Alderman David Heyman and Attorney Lovett Boggess were present. Alderman Ernest Henderson was absent.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Guests in attendance included Cindy Bell, Maurine Wehmeyer and Ronnie Hale.
Ronnie Hale of Entergy addressed the members briefly. He mentioned the recent outage. He also mentioned that electric charges should be going down in the near future. By the first of the year all customers should be seeing the reduction.
Mayor Sowell asked for approval of the minutes of the meeting held on Thursday, October 12, 2006. Alderwoman Freeman made a motion to accept minutes as presented. Alderman Robinett seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of the motion.
Mayor Sowell advised members that Fred Couvillon (Financial Officer for American Legion Post #640) was advised by membership that they had voted not to raise the rent this year. He was in contact with the Mayor and advised that we should be considering an increase in our rent for next year.
Mayor Sowell asked the council to consider/approve Ordinance 55-06 approving the 2006 tax roll. Alderman Tom Johanson made a motion to accept the ordinance; Alderwoman Erna Freeman seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of the motion.
Alderman Bill Robinett made a motion that all invoices current due and payable be paid. Alderman David Heyman seconded the motion; all members voted in favor of the motion.
Mayor Sowell gave members an update on the town’s activities and projects. Cindy Bell informed the council work has begun on parking lot across street from bank.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:16 p.m.
