BOARD OF ALDERMEN

November 10, 2010

The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Anderson met in regular open session in the American Legion Building in Anderson, Texas, at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Mayor Gail Sowell, Aldermen Joe Boudreaux, Daryl Alford; Alderwomen Erna Freeman, Carol DeBose, and Attorney John DeMille were present. Alderman Tom Johanson was absent.
The meeting was called to order at 7.00 p.m.
Guests in attendance included Cindy Bell, Chester Finke, Kim Falcon, Clint Capps, Angela Davis and former Mayor, John Freeman.
Mayor Sowell asked for approval of the minutes of the meeting held on Thursday, October 14, 2010. Alderman Alford made a motion to accept the minutes as presented. Alderman Boudreaux seconded the motion, all members present voted in favor.
Mayor Sowell asked members to consider/approve Ordinance No. 80-10 approving the 2010 tax roll for the Town of Anderson. A motion was made by Alderman Boudreaux and seconded by Alderwoman Freeman to approve the Ordinance. All members present voted in favor of the motion.
Mayor Sowell asked for review and approval of payment of all accounts currently due and payable. Alderwoman Freeman made a motion to pay the bills; Alderman Boudreaux seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of the motion.
Certified letters were sent to John W. Peavy, Jr. and William E. Bean, Jr. asking them to appear at this meeting in regards to their property on Main St. Certification of their receipt of the letters was returned, dated 11-3-2010. Mr. Bean asked for a delay as he is ill and requested the Aldermen give him the month of December to begin the cleaning; he would then meet with the Board at the January 13th meeting.
Attorney DeMille was asked to send Mr. Bean a letter suspending action until the January meeting. The letter will state that the Board of Aldermen do expect to see signs of activity prior to that meeting, as well as Mr. Bean’s presence at the December meeting.
Mr. Peavy received the correspondence. He did not appear and was not heard from except notification of the receipt of the letter. Alderman Alford requested Attorney DeMille to move forward immediately; motion was seconded by Alderwoman Freeman and approved by all members present. Attorney DeMille will send an Order of Condemnation to Mr. Peavy giving him 10 days from the date of the letter to begin and/or complete repair or removal of the property in question.
