The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Anderson met in regular open session in the American Legion Building in Anderson, Texas, at 7.00 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2009. Mayor Gail Sowell, Aldermen Tom Johanson, Joe Boudreaux, Daryl Alford, Alderwoman Erna Freeman and Attorney John DeMille were present.
The meeting was called to order at 7.00 p.m.
Guests in attendance included Cindy Bell and Maurine Wehmeyer.
Mayor Sowell asked for approval of the minutes of the meeting held on Thursday, October 8, 2009. Approval was tabled until the next meeting, in order to revise information relating to land descriptions involved in the formal annexation of Fanthorp Inn.
Mayor Sowell asked members to consider/approve Resolution No. 46-09 regarding the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants Program. This grant allows the City of Anderson up to $23,000 to use in any way that is “energy efficient”. A motion was made by Alderman Boudreaux and seconded by Alderwoman Freeman to approve the Resolution. All members present voted in favor of the motion.
Mayor Sowell asked members to take action on Resolution No. 47-09 regarding the ballot for the Grimes Co. Appraisal District Board of Directors. Alderman Alford made a motion to cast a one vote each for Sam Ruffino, Kathleen Terrell and Joe King Fultz. His motion was seconded by Alderman Johanson; all members present voted in favor of the motion.
Mayor Sowell asked members to consider/approve of the 2009 tax roll Ordinance No. 73-09 for the Town of Anderson. Alderman Boudreaux made a motion to accept the 2009 tax roll with tax amounts entered totaling $19,034.17; Alderman Alford seconded the motion, all members present voted in favor.
Mayor Sowell asked for review and approval of payment of all accounts currently due and payable. Alderwoman Freeman made a motion to pay the bills; Alderman Alford seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of the motion.
Mayor Sowell asked members to consider candidates to fill the vacant position of Ernest Henderson. Several names were presented as having shown interest in the position. Mayor Sowell is to contact the candidates and hopefully have a candidate for the position by January, 2010.
