The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Anderson met in regular open session in the American Legion Building in Anderson, Texas, at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2005. Mayor Gail Sowell, Alderwoman Erna Freeman, Aldermen David Heyman, Bill Robinett, Tom Johanson and Attorney Lovett Boggess were present.
The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m. with no visitors in attendance.
The Mayor asked that minutes from the regular meeting held on Thurs., December 9, 2004 be considered/approved. Alderman David Heyman made a motion to approve the minutes as presented; Alderman Tom Johanson seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Mayor Sowell asked the Board to consider/approve the annual principal payment of $5,000.00 and semi-annual interest payment of $5,287.50 to USDA Rural Development. Motion to make this payment was made by Alderman Tom Johanson and seconded by Alderman Bill Robinett. All members present voted in favor of the motion.
Mayor Sowell and members of the council discussed appointment of a council member to fill the vacancy left by F.D. Calhoun’s resignation. If no replacement can be found at the present time, Council considered waiting for the May election and agreed to help look for a replacement.
Mayor Sowell discussed the upcoming election scheduled for May 7, 2005. Mayor Sowell’s position as well as that of Alderman Tom Johanson, and the position formerly held by Alderman F.D. Calhoun will be considered at this election.
Mayor Sowell discussed miscellaneous items of concern with the members present.
Alderman Tom Johanson moved that all invoices currently due and payable be ordered paid. Alderman Bill Robinett seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of the motion.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
