Mr. Hudson contacted Mayor Sowell about the taxes recently since he thought the property had been given to the town long ago. Mayor Sowell told Mr. Hudson the city would see what needed to be done in order to clear this matter up. Mayor Sowell with get with our attorney to see what needs to be done.
Mayor Sowell reported that Attorney Angela Collier-Seager stated she requested a warrant be signed by Judge John C. Fultz to be able to enter the Peavy property to continue with the condemnation. He requested to see the legal research before they can get a warrant. Angela Collier-Seager will stay on top of this subject.
Carol DeBose brought up a concern about a light that continuously goes on and off located on College/Woodward Streets. Mayor Sowell will have Tom to look at the light to see if it is a city light. It was then questioned if the light on South Main & Johnson St. is also a city pole street light. It was noted that the lights around the court house is paid for by the county. Karen McDuffie-Melton will check into the light situation with the Power Company and report back to the board.
