The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Anderson met in regular open session in the American Legion Building in Anderson, Texas, at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2006. Mayor Gail Sowell, Aldermen David Heyman, Tom Johanson, Ernest Henderson, and Attorney Lovett Boggess were present. Alderwoman Erna Freeman and Alderman Bill Robinett were absent.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Guests in attendance included Maurine Wehmeyer, Cindy Bell, Mr. & Mrs. Ken Sanders, Mr. & Mrs. Harley McCorcle and the McCorcle’s sister-in-law.

Two families are considering purchasing property in the town; both have requests for assistance from the council regarding problems they have encountered in the area of the property they are considering. Mayor Sowell advised both families that the council would consider their requests and get back with them at a later date.

Mayor Sowell asked that minutes from the regular meeting held on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006 be considered/approved. Alderman Tom Johanson made a motion to accept the minutes; Alderman David Heyman seconded the motion and members voted in favor of the motion.

Alderman Tom Johanson made a motion that all invoices currently due and payable be paid. Alderman Ernest Henderson seconded the motion; all members present voted in favor of the motion.

Mayor Sowell gave a report on items in progress. Mayor Sowell also stressed the need for a workshop as soon as possible, hopefully in January or February at the latest.

Mayor Sowell met with School Superintendent Brent recently to discuss combining future elections with the school district in an effort to reduce costs. She plans to meet with Mr. Brent and a representative from the county to work out a joint agreement.

Mayor Sowell advised the council members that she is planning on sending her annual request to TxDOT requesting materials for use on the town’s streets.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
