The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Anderson met in regular open session in the American Legion Building in Anderson, Texas, at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008. Mayor Gail Sowell, Attorney Lovett Boggess, Aldermen Tom Johanson, Ernest Henderson, and Daryl Alford were present; Alderwoman Erna Freeman arrived at 7:15; Alderman David Heyman was absent.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Guests present at the meeting included Mrs. Cindy Bell, Chester Finke, and TxDOT Representative Kurt Barnes.
Mr. Kurt Barnes of TxDOT presented outcome of the speed zone study for the school zone conducted in December, 2007. Alderman Johanson made a motion to accept the results of the study and allow the school zone area to be completed, as outlined in Ordinance No. 64-08. Alderman Ernest Henderson seconded the motion; all members present were in favor of the motion.
The Mayor asked that the minutes from the regular meeting held on Thursday, February 14, 2008 be considered/approved. Alderwoman Erna Freeman made a motion to approve the minutes as presented; Alderman Daryl Alford seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Mayor Sowell presented a report from the Anderson Water Co. listing average water consumption during December 2007, January and February 2008 for each business and home in town. Alderwoman Erna Freeman made a motion to accept the charges as listed. Alderman Ernest Henderson seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of the motion.
Alderman Daryl Alford moved that all invoices currently due and payable be ordered paid. Alderman Ernest Henderson seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of the motion.
Mayor Sowell updated the council on ongoing issues in the city.
The meeting was adjourned at 7.55 p.m.
