BOARD OF ALDERMEN

The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Anderson met in regular open session in the American Legion Building in Anderson, Texas, at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2005. Mayor Gail Sowell, Aldermen Tom Johanson, David Heyman, Ernest Henderson, Alderwoman Erna Freeman and Attorney Lovett Boggess were present. Alderman Bill Robinett was absent.
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m.
Mayor Sowell asked that minutes from the regular meeting held on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005 be considered/approved. Alderwoman Erna Freeman made a motion to approve the minutes as presented; Alderman Ernest Henderson seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of the motion.
Guest present for this meeting was Cindy Bell.
Mayor Sowell presented drawings furnished by the County Clerk’s office of the alleyway located between Blocks 9 & 10 of the property owned by St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. A request was presented for the closing or leasing of this alleyway in order to facilitate an undivided area on which to place the new Parish Hall. After discussion of the matter, Mayor Sowell tabled the item until the November meeting to gather more information.
Considering the recommendation of City Attorney Lovett Boggess, Aldermen did not vote on the nominations for Grimes Co. Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for the period of 2006-2008.
Alderman Thomas Johanson made a motion to pay all invoices and accounts currently due. Alderwoman Erna Freeman seconded the motion and all members present voted in favor of the motion.
Mayor Sowell gave an update on the town’s activities. Mr. Boggess provided an update regarding paperwork on land being donated to the town from the Fryxell’s.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:48 P.M.
