County Judge Joe Fauth III gave the invocation.
Remarks of visitors:
Cindy Bell discussed upcoming Chamber events.
Joe Boudreaux asked about the burning of the Love property off Hwy. 90.
Kason Menges asked about burning also. Questioned the variance process.
Agenda Items:
Mayor Sowell asked council to review the minutes of the regular meeting held on Thursday, February 14, 2019. Karen McDuffie made a motion to approve the minutes. Carol De Bose seconded the motion. All approved; the motion carried.
County Judge Joe Fauth III presented his request for redirecting flow of traffic on W. Buffington to one-way only. Mayor Sowell asked council to consider the approval of the request. Carnell Carrell made a motion to approve. Carol DeBose seconded the motion. All approved; the motion carried.
Mayor Sowell asked council to consider moving forward on Lori Clayton’s petition for variance adding 2 manufactured homes to the current manufactured home park on Cedar Street. Daryl Alford made a motion to hold a public hearing in 45 days. Karen McDuffie seconded the motion. All approved except for Carnell Carrell who was excluded from the vote due to conflict of interest; the motion carried.
Mayor Sowell asked council to consider moving forward on Jerald Lee’s petition for variance on age of Manufactured Home considering her year 2000 manufactured home. Karen McDuffie made a motion to hold a public hearing in 45 days. Carol De Bose seconded the motion. All approved except for Carnell Carrell who was excluded from the vote due to conflict of interest; the motion carried.
Mayor Sowell asked council to consider adding the amendments to Ordinance # 113-16 and Ordinance #26-99 regarding Recreation Vehicles (RV) being used as temporary or permanent housing within the city limits.
Daryl Alford made a motion to approve. Carol DeBose seconded the motion. All approved: the motion carried.
Mayor Sowell asked council to move item #6 regarding the condemnation/abatement process until next month when Attorney Michael Casaretto would be available to explain the processes.
Mayor Sowell asked council to approve a Joint Election Agreement between Anderson-Shiro ISD, City of Plantersville, and the Town of Anderson to hold an election per state statue Daryl Alford made a motion to approve. Karen McDuffie seconded the motion. All approved: the motion carried.
Discussion was held regarding Clean-Up Day – March 30 from 8 am – 12 pm. The town will provide gloves, vests, water and food for the workers. Leftover supplies will be stored in the storage room for future cleanups. Grimes County Adult Probation Officer Al Peeler will provide community service workers. Brian Griesbach of BV Solid Waste Management Assoc. will provide the dumpsters.
Mayor Sowell asked council to review the payment of invoices due. Karen McDuffie made a motion to approve. Carol DeBose seconded the motion. All approved; the motion carried.
Daryl Alford made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Carnell Carrell seconded the motion. All approved; the motion carried.
