The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Anderson met in regular open session in the American Legion Building in Anderson, Texas, at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2005. Mayor Gail Sowell, Alderwoman Erna Freeman, Aldermen Bill Robinett, Tom Johanson, and Attorney Lovett Boggess were present; Aldermen David Heyman was absent.
A guest, Cindy Bell, was present for the meeting.
The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m.
The Mayor asked that minutes from the regular meeting held on Thurs., January 13, 2005 be considered/approved. Alderwoman Erna Freeman made a motion to approve the minutes as presented; Alderman Bill Robinett seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Mayor Sowell asked the members present to approve adoption of an Order of Election for May 7, 2005. Mayor Sowell’s position (2 yrs) as well as Alderman Tom Johanson and the vacant position of former Alderman F.D. Calhoun (both 2 year positions) are to be voted upon at this election. Alderman Erna Freeman made a motion to adopt the Order of Election; Tom Johanson seconded the motion and all members present voted in favor of the motion.
Mayor Sowell discussed information learned at the Public Funds Investment Law Workshop she and Secretary RoAnne Stanley attended on January 27 & 28 in Austin, TX.
Mayor Sowell discussed receipt of another letter from Catherine Hejl, TxDOT Director of Maintenance in Bryan concerning RAP material. Our town was approved to receive 500 cubic yards of this material. The Board was pleased with the result of Mayor Sowell’s efforts and asked that she continue to request similar materials in the future.
Alderman Bill Robinett moved that all invoices currently due and payable be ordered paid. Alderwoman Erna Freeman seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Mayor Sowell informed the Aldermen of progress on current projects and miscellaneous items of business.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
