Called to order at 7:00 pm

 

Remarks of visitors:
Cindy Bell reminded everyone of the Chamber of Commerce’s Red, Whites, and Blues starting at 4 pm on Saturday December 16th. The Chamber of Commerce is sending out calendars and asked for dates that we wanted included. The date for the Anderson Heritage Restoration Social which will be on May 12th.

Agenda Items:
Mayor Sowell asked the board to review the minutes from the last meeting on November 9, 2017. Joe Boudreaux made a motion to approve the minutes. Carol DeBose seconded the motion. All approved; the motion carried.
Mayor Sowell asked Cindy Olivieri to give a report of the Meeting held by the Permit Committee. The committee consisted of Aldermen Joe Boudreaux and Harold Minor, Inspector Paul Cassidy, and members of the community Kyle Childress and David Whitaker. The permits that the committee unanimously agreed on included:

Residential
1. New Construction -$100
2. Remodels over 250 sq. ft.- $100
3. Plumbing – $75
4. Electrical – $75
5. Manufactured Home Move-In Permit – $250
6. Rental Registration – $25
7. Demolition – free

Commercial
1. Commercial Building Permit – $250
2. Electrical – $75
3. Plumbing – $75
4. New/Change of Occupancy – $75

Joe Boudreaux made a motion to approve the permit committees permits and pricing. Karen McDuffie asked for clarification on Residential New Home Permit price being lower than Manufactured Home. Cindy Olivieri will ask Paul Cassidy and report back. Carol DeBose seconded the motion. All approved; the motion carried. There was a call for a hand vote and all approved by raising hand.

Joe Boudreaux made a motion to add the date of the Manufactured Home being brought into the town to no older than 5 years from date of the permit and change the wording in the current ordinance #113-16 under Section C the first two paragraphs from Mobile Home to Manufactured homes. Carol DeBose seconded the motion. All approved; the motion carried.

Mayor Sowell removed item #4 voting for Chamber of Commerce Board due to voting deadline had passed.

Mayor Sowell asked the board to consider a hall rental rate for a 2-hour meeting. The price for Hall Rental is $150 per day. Joe Boudreaux made a motion to add a rate of $37.50 for a 2-hour meeting. Harold Minor seconded the motion. Karen McDuffie opposed. The motion carried with a vote of 3 to 1.

Karen McDuffie made a motion to Lift the Moratorium. Joe Boudreaux seconded the motion. All approved; the motion carried.

Mayor Sowell asked the board to review the bills. Joe Boudreaux made a motion to approve the bills. Carol DeBose seconded the motion. All approved; the motion carried.
Mayor Sowell asked the board for updates on items in town. Joe Boudreaux reported a new grant we are looking into from the CDBG-DR 2016 for the 2 events in 2016. This grant has a 1% matching rate and we need to approve quickly in order to move forward. The board agreed and set a special meeting for Monday morning at 8 am to approve necessary steps.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:58 pm.
